My passion has always been old cars and old airplanes. I have restored eight Model A Fords and since 2006 have built full-size static replicas of a 1916 Sopwith Camel (Snoopy's plane); a 1918 Fokker DR 1 (Red Baron's plane); a 1944 Spitfire MK IX; the Spitfire's rival, a 1944 Messerschmitt ME 109G in Adoph Galland's colors; a Sherman Tank; Willies Jeeps; a U-Boat in the pond; a Hawker Hurricane and the front end of a 1911 Pacific Type steam locomotive.
All of the planes are constructed mostly from recycled material. It's ironic that there is a Model A Ford wheel welded in the nose of all my planes.
I chose to build the Sopwith Camel to commemorate The Year of the Veteran in 2005. I enjoyed the project so much that I decided to build the Red Baron's plane, the Fokker DR1. My favorite plane was the Sptifire MK 1X until I built the Hawker Hurricane.
I completed the 1944 Messerschmitt ME 109 G in Adolf Galland's colors in May, 2011. It took 14 months to complete as I missed 4 months working on it. I have placed a manequin dressed like Adlof Galland, smoking his cigar at the controls.
I am currently working on Warbird number six, a full size static replica of the DeHavilland Mosquito.
We are now trains, planes and automobiles!
It's a bit of adventure hunting around Clarington to find components.
